Equality, Politics, Washington DC, Women's March

Women’s March 2017, Washington, D.C.

Regardless of your politics, you can’t deny the power of the worldwide marches held on January 21, 2017. Estimated attendance figures are over 2.9 million people, the largest in U.S. history, and I was lucky enough to have been able to join them. More incredible than the turnout was the mood of the march – one of positivity, unity, and peace. That’s democracy and free speech in action. These photos were shot with a Canon 5DIII and a Canon 24-70mm […]

We did more promotion of the event this year, including a few promotional videos. Here’s one from the foundation’s Youtube channel: This year’s event had over 400 […]

These Songs Are For You – Celebrating The Life of Sean Albert Meyers Part II @ Jammin’ Java – July 27th

The last entry I posted covered the first night of a two-day memorial event for Sean Meyers. Sean was the awesome amazing bassist for local band Norman Rockwell, super great open mic host, and all-around good guy. This extra short entry is for night two. Enjoy! Here is the link to the Facebook Gallery (low quality image).

These Songs Are For You – Celebrating The Life of Sean Albert Meyers Part I @ Jammin’ Java – July 26th

This past weekend I had the great opportunity of covering a two-day memorial event at Jammin’ Java. “These Songs For You – Celebrating The Life of Sean Albert Meyers” was a follow up show thought up of by Normal Rockwell drummer (and all around great guy) Nate Read. You may remember that I shot the State Theatre show in Sean’s honor earlier in February. The idea behind this two-part show was to have musicians who knew Sean cover a number of his […]

The Sean Meyers Memorial Extravaganza: Norman Rockwell

Norman Rockwell is a band that knows how to get down. The band, formed in the damp warmth of poorly ventilated and heavily cramped open mic known as the Soundry, is the combined force of Josh Johnston, Ben Hirsch, Nathan Read, and the late great Sean Meyers. Sean, who unexpectedly passed away this past November, was memorialized this past Friday at The State Theatre in Falls Church, Virginia. Sean, the baby faced and magnanimous host of that open mic was […]

“Skate for Catherine!” & Tips for Shooting Ice Skaters

The Catherine Elizabeth Blair Memorial Fund is a local non-profit dedicated to raising funds for developing treatments for the childhood cancer neuroblastoma. They have most recently awarded a grant to a program developing a new treatment for relapsed neuroblastoma, which sadly has no known cure. The foundation held a benefit event – “Skate for Catherine!” – on March 1st at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Virginia. Catherine’s mother asked if I would be willing to cover the event and photograph […]

Northern Virginia CureSearch Walk 2011

A few weeks ago I was approached by members of the Northern Virginia CureSearch team and was asked to cover their 2011 CureSearch Walk in Fairfax Corner. Having participated in the walk the prior (and inaugural) year, I was more than happy to oblige and was honored to have been asked. CureSearch is a  national non-profit organization supporting childhood cancer research. The money raised by CureSearch is used to help fund the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), which is a network […]
