Lauren Venezia is a costume designer based in Richmond, Virginia. I stayed down for a few days to do two days of shooting with her. The first day was a brilliant cosplay she designed and made herself of DC Comics superheroine Black Canary. Black Canary is an expert in martial arts and Lauren has martial arts experience which you’ll see in one of the photos below (as well as the Canary Cry!).
Cosplay shoots are super fun and working with Lauren was a breeze. We both wanted the same thing – well composed shots in great locations that showed off the character’s personality. We drove around Richmond to find the best locations and ended up shooting in four different spots.
Here are a few of the images! All were captured with a Canon 5DIII, a Canon 24-105 f/4L IS, and a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L II with natural light.
