Mike + Laura’s Proposal Photoshoot – Tidal Basin, Washington, DC

I love being a proposal photographer and I have the best clients ever! Mike and Laura met in 2013 on a blind date set up via mutual friends. They’re awesome and you can definitely see the love between them. They’re really thoughtful, too – Laura spent months planning a huge event for Mike’s last birthday and he wanted to go just as big for his proposal to her. Mike contacted me over a month in advance to plan and coordinate […]

Cody and Amanda’s Proposal Photoshoot – DC War Memorial, Washington, DC

Woot, another proposal photoshoot! Cody found me via Reddit and asked if I would be the photographer to cover his proposal to now-fiancee, Amanda. Proposal photoshoots are challenging and incredibly dynamic, but very rewarding. There is no guarantee that light, location, or weather will cooperate, there’s no way to pose anything, and there’s only one chance to nail it! All that, and I have to blend into the environment with my gigantic camera to not give myself away! Vaughn and Alex’s Proposal – Lincoln Memorial, Washington, DC

Vaughn contacted a few weeks ago via Reddit and asked if I would cover his proposal photos at the Lincoln Memorial. Yes. Heck yes. Proposal photoshoots are crazy and fun and pretty much the best things ever. No matter how well planned a proposal is, it can really go either way. Doing it at a monument kind of ramps that up! Lots of foot traffic, really crowded. There is no guarantee that light, location, weather, or tourists will cooperate. There’s literally no […]

Anthony and Sarah’s Proposal Photoshoot – DC War Memorial, Washington, DC

This past week I was contacted via Reddit by Anthony. Anthony was planning to propose to his girlfriend Sarah and was looking for a photographer who would be able to cover the event. As we discussed the details it became clear that Anthony had planned out the entire night and that this assignment would be a bit difficult but very rewarding. A proposal photoshoot has a number of difficulties – the whole thing, no matter how well planned, is a […]

Shenandoah/DC Weekend

Spent the weekend a bit under the weather but managed to spend a ton of time outside (it was our 2 year anniversary, after all!). Saturday we went to two estate sales – the first was at a home owned by a former geisha and the second was the home of the former deputy director of the IRS. I was able to snag three original paintings for $10 and Marisa found a really nice kimono for $25.  Went and got […]
