Dahlea Gray

I got to shoot with model Dahlea Gray today in the awesome town of Front Royal, Virginia. Pin-up was an inspiration but we kept ourselves open to other ideas. All images were captured with my Canon 5D III  paired with either a 24-70 f/2.8LII or a 70-200 f/2.8LII in natural light. Visit J.Yi Photography on Facebook!

Cody and Amanda’s Proposal Photoshoot – DC War Memorial, Washington, DC

Woot, another proposal photoshoot! Cody found me via Reddit and asked if I would be the photographer to cover his proposal to now-fiancee, Amanda. Proposal photoshoots are challenging and incredibly dynamic, but very rewarding. There is no guarantee that light, location, or weather will cooperate, there’s no way to pose anything, and there’s only one chance to nail it! All that, and I have to blend into the environment with my gigantic camera to not give myself away! Bryanna Millis – Mixed Media Artist

Bryanna Millis is an award-winning poet and mixed media artist who resides in Washington, DC. She recently contacted me to photograph a number of her pieces to display on her website, www.BryannaMillis.com. I used studio lighting to capture the incredible detail of her work, which was done on muslin and paper products. The strobes I used were Alienbees 1600s, triggered with PocketWizard Plus III Transceivers. I shot with a Canon 5DIII and a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8LII. Below are a number of our […]

We Make Reston!

Guess what? All three of my B+W portraits were accepted by the Initiative for Public Art – Reston and will be on display as part of the We Make Reston exhibit, an INSIDE OUT project. The portraits are up at the Jo Ann Rose Gallery at Reston Community Center Lake Anne, the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station, and South Lakes High School. Neat! Visit J.Yi Photography on Facebook! Guido + Gulnura – Arlington, Virginia

Guido and Gulnura contacted me for an engagement session with a bit of a twist. The two met overseas at a US embassy, fell in love, and became engaged. They were both in town for now but were going to be separated into different countries for work and needed their session, retouching, and prints delivered within a few days! Never one to step down from a challenge, I accepted, we made plans, and we made these beautiful images. I pride […]
