Covering Scena Theatre: Press Photos for the Production of ‘The Night Alive’

Scena Theater (website/Facebook) is one of my favorite clients. Their productions are always incredibly well done and the people who are in and help run the shows are all really cool human beings. I’ve been blessed to work with them for their past seven productions (The Norwegians, Shining City, Handbag, Molly, The Cripple of Inishmaan, and The Importance of Being Earnest, and Antigone Now). Their current production, The Night Alive, is currently running atAtlas Performing Arts Center in Washington, DC and has amassed a large number […]

Covering Scena Theatre: Press Photos for the Production of ‘Antigone Now’

Scena Theater (website/Facebook) is an awesome client and I always look forward to working with them again. Being a stage/theatre photographer can be tough – incredibly dynamic movements, expressions, and lighting changes – but Scena has always been amazing to work with. I’ve had the pleasure of covering their past six productions (The Norwegians, Shining City, Handbag, Molly, The Cripple of Inishmaan, and The Importance of Being Earnest) and recently did the photography for their newest production, Antigone Now at the Atlas Performing Arts Center […]

Covering Scena Theatre: Press Photos for the Production of ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’.

Scena Theater (website/Facebook/tickets) is one of my favorite clients. I’ve had the pleasure of covering their past three productions (The Norwegians, Shining City and Handbag) and recently covered their newest, a wildly funny genderbent take on Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. Directed by Robert McNamara and featuring two time Helen Hayes Award winner Nanna Ingvarsson, Brian Hemmingsen (Helen Hayes Award nominee, twice), Danielle Davy, Bob Sheire, Graham Pilato, David Bryan Jackson, Ellie Nicoll, Amie Cazel, and Mary Suib, The Importance of Being Earnest definitely should […]

A Happy Thanksgiving Message and Announcement

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody! 2014 has been a tumultuous, exciting, and eye-opening year. Taking the plunge and going full-time with my passion for photography was a goal that I had once considered wishful thinking, it’s an amazing feeling to see where I am now. I am so happy and grateful to have had the support and good fortune over the past few years to have made my humble dream a reality. In my life before photography I spent five years working at a pediatric […]

July Talk at the Rock and Roll Hotel

July Talk is an awesome Canadian band blues-influenced rock band with a cool, unique sound. Members: Peter Dreimanis on guitar and vocals, singer Leah Fay, guitarist Ian Docherty, bassist Josh Warburton and drummer Danny Miles. How’d I describe them? It’s as if a young Tom Waits found his June Carter and started a grit-blues rock band, except June’s now an uninhibited, manic pixie who defines sexiness and cool. July Talk was touring with The Rural Alberta Advantage in support of […]

Covering Scena Theater: Press Photos for the Production of ‘Handbag’.

Scena Theater (website/Facebook/tickets) is a D.C. institution that has brought the District countless, wonderful productions. I covered their last production, Shining City,  a powerful drama that kept me incredibly engaged the whole time. I recently did the press photography for their next production, Handbag. Directed by Robert McNamara and featuring Anne Nottage, Amanda Forstrom, Gray West, Edward C. Nagel, Robert Sheire, and Haely Jardas, Handbag is one helluva ride. It’s best to go in not knowing what to expect so I’ll leave it […]

Covering Scena Theater: Press Photos for the Productions of ‘Shining City’ and ‘Molly’.

Scena Theater (website/Facebook/tickets) is a D.C. institution that has given the area dozens of wonderful productions. I was approached by the theater to provide press photography for two of this season’s plays: Shining City by Conor McPherson and the world premiere of Molly by George O’Brien. Shining City, directed by Robert McNamara and featuring Lee Ordeman, Ron Litman, Ellie Nicoll, and Kevin O’Reilly, is about a Dublin man who is convinced he sees the ghost of his dead wife and seeks the counsel of a psychologist […]

The MetroTones and the Infinite Cheesiness.

The MetroTones are a top 40 cover band based in the Washington, D.C. area. Rebecca, Ryan, Paul, and John cover a really broad range of music with songs by the Beastie Boys, No Doubt, Prince, The Clash, 50 Cent, and more. They will be playing the NOVABrewFest in Loudoun this year and list their shows on their Facebook. Check them out! I shot the MetroTones yesterday to create a few promo photos. They had a very specific theme in mind – […]

Lauren Venezia as Black Canary

Lauren Venezia is a costume designer based in Richmond, Virginia. I stayed down for a few days to do two days of shooting with her. The first day was a brilliant cosplay she designed and made herself of DC Comics superheroine Black Canary. Black Canary is an expert in martial arts and Lauren has martial arts experience which you’ll see in one of the photos below (as well as the Canary Cry!). Cosplay shoots are super fun and working with Lauren […]
