Mother-Daughter Spa Night at Life with Cancer

Last week I had the pleasure of covering a wonderful event. Mother-Daughter Spa Night at the Life with Cancer Building in Fairfax, VA. The night was hosted by the DC Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation, a local non-profit. Here is an excerpt from their “About Us” page:

DC Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit support group for families with children of cancer in the Washington , DC metropolitan area (including Northern Virginia and Maryland ). We are affiliated with the American Childhood Cancer Organization, an international network of parent support groups founded in 1970 by parents of children with cancer.

The Mother-Daughter Spa Night is an annual event that allows the  ladies of families affected by cancer to come together for fellowship and pampering. I have seen first-hand how much stress a family goes through when a member is going through treatment and it is common for family members to forget to treat themselves. This spa night seemed like a wonderful relief. Massages, manicures, make-up  artists, wig artists, and a “bling station” were all big hits.

Please visit the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation and consider making a contribution, they are a wonderful group of people who do great work.
